“your compassion, generosity and commitment to justice are deeply felt”

Poyecto Faro Directors respond to StorySpace Arts’ Art In Action “ICE OUT” Community Art Exhibit at Studio 101, Jan. 2026, Nyack, NY.

Dear Katie,
Your compassion, generosity, and your commitment to justice are deeply felt. In these dystopic and heartbreaking times, solidarity like yours really helps us reorient and refuel. Because of acts of kindness like yours we know there is goodness in the world and we know we'll somehow get through these horrors.

Gratefully,
Liz and Dilcia, Proyecto Faro

“there is nothing like storyspace artS”

Bill Batson, Nyack based Writer, Artist, Civic and Community Leader shares a letter of support reflecting upon the importance of the work of Katie Elevitch, founding director of the Non-Profit, StorySpace Arts.

I am writing in support of Katie Elevitch and her work as Executive Director of Storyspace Arts.

The Arts Council of Rockland and ArtsWestchester should be applauded for supporting Katie's work in the past. I was proud to write a letter of support last year and am even more pleased to write again this year.

During the course of this year, Katie has provided a consistent and accessible venue for artists from marginalized communities to explore and experiment with their art form. Even though there are several venues in Nyack that have live music - there is nothing like (Studio 101 and the programs of) StoryspaceArts.

As an illustrator and essayist who chronicles the history of my village, I have observed that there are too many stories and not enough story tellers. Katie is filling this urgent gap.

And considering the current national climate - the platform she has created will be so important to document the experience of communities that are being scapegoated, stereotyped and singled out for unequal treatment.

I can not urge you enough to support her expanded work.

- Bill Batson, December 17, 2024
